Revisions – Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane 2016
Revisions, a commission for Dublin City Public Art Programme, Interaction With The City. Working within Dublin City Council, I engaged with staff in Housing, Architects and Engineering who draw or read drawings as part of their everyday work. I looked at project drawings, made site visits and had conversations with staff around the role of drawing within the City Council, and how their drawings, old and new, are used, handled and stored. The work in this exhibition examines the inherent visual complexity and knowledge conveyed in these drawings. The impact of computer aided design programmes, which rendered manual and older mechanical drawing methods obsolete, was also considered and evaluated.
